Requirements for Working in Canada

As a foreign worker, you must have the appropriate documentation in order to legally work in Canada.  You will need the following:

  • Work Permit
  • Social Insurance Number

Work Permit
There are two ways to obtain a work permit.  You can obtain a work permit on your own.  To find out more information go to www.cic.gc.ca.

If you have been offered full-time employment into a position that is difficult to recruit, the Agency will make an application on your behalf.  We will require the following from you in order to process your application:

  • resume
  • date of birth
  • country of birth
  • citizenship

Social Insurance Number (S.I.N.)
The SIN is a nine-digit number that you will require in order to work in Canada.  You can apply for the SIN by going to http://www.hrdc-drhc.gc.ca/sin-nas/010_e.shtml.  In some instances, the Agency can provide you with a letter to expedite the process of obtaining your SIN.  Please contact Human Resources once you have been offered employment at the Agency.
