The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) and the BC Cancer Agency (BCCA) are pleased to invite you to the 10th World Conference on Lung Cancer. The conference will be held at the Vancouver Conference and Exhibition Centre, located on Vancouver’s inner harbour, from Sunday, August 10th to Thursday, August 14th, 2003. Since the first world conference in 1978, the IASLC meetings have grown substantially and we anticipate over 3000 delegates will come to Vancouver in 2003.
It is an exciting time to be working in the lung cancer field with rapid progress in the field of molecular biology and maturation of large clinical trials of drugs with molecular targets. The theme of the conference, "Lung Cancer in the 21st Century: Genome to Clinic," reflects these exciting times. Delegates attending the conference will be provided with an updated knowledge of all aspects, clinical and basic, in the field of lung cancer. The local and scientific committees have been hard at work since 2001 putting together an informative programme covering many disciplines in the lung cancer field. More than 140 speakers from around the world have been invited to participate and we can assure you that the sessions will be informative and cover the most exciting topics and research in lung cancer today. The conference will consist of plenary sessions, concurrent sessions, "Meet the Professor" sessions as well as oral and poster presentations selected from abstracts. Selected companies will also be presenting their findings in their own Satellite Symposia.
In addition to the scientific programme, a tremendous social program will highlight the culture and scenery of Vancouver and the Pacific Northwest. The weather in mid-August is generally warm and clear and we urge our colleagues from around the world to take the opportunity to extend their trip for a vacation in British Columbia or enjoy an Alaskan cruise!
Conference details and the call for abstracts information is available online at http://www.2003worldlungcancer.org. Take note of the Dates to Remember section in the conference brochure. Your early and prompt attention to all submissions will ensure your participation in this prestigious event.
On behalf of the IASLC and BCCA we look forward to welcoming you to the 10th World Conference on Lung Cancer and promise that the scientific programme, Canadian hospitality and the beauty and the warmth of Vancouver will provide a lifetime of memories.
