2003/07/07: BC Cancer Agency invites you to the 10th World Conference on Lung Cancer

The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer and the BC Cancer Agency present the 10th World Conference on Lung Cancer, August 10th to 14th in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Held every two years, this conference is the world's largest gathering of lung cancer experts and represents a truly international cross-section of presenters and attendees. More than 3,000 delegates from the international scientific and medical community are expected to attend the four-day conference.

The conference will be held at the Vancouver Conference and Exhibition Centre. The theme, Lung Cancer in the 21st Century: Genome to Clinic, reflects the rapid progress being made in the field of molecular biology and the maturation of large clinical trials of drugs with molecular targets.

With more than 140 speakers, the conference will consist of plenary sessions, concurrent sessions, Meet the Professor sessions as well as oral and poster presentations selected from abstracts. Selected companies will also be presenting their findings in their own Satellite Symposia.

Highlights include the Plenary Session The Tobacco Pandemic: Challenges for the 21st Century, which examines the dangers of smoking and the nature of addiction. Renowned scientists will lead the plenary session Early Detection of Lung Cancer, where they will share the latest findings in the detection of lung cancer and discuss the implications of these findings for patients and the health sector. Special sessions include Tapping into Patient Power, which will feature presentations by leading advocacy groups and a discussion of the social stigma attached to this common form of cancer, plus Gender Differences in Biology and Treatment of Lung Cancer.
