BC Cancer Agency Community Care Award

Do you know an exceptional individual who provides cares or support to cancer patients? Someone whose efforts make a real difference in the lives of people with cancer? If so, we want to hear from you!

You are invited to nominate a deserving caregiver for the 2011 BC Cancer Agency Community Care Award, sponsored by the BC Cancer Foundation. 

What is the BC Cancer Agency Community Care Award?

It recognizes and celebrates the contributions of individuals in our communities who help improve the lives of those living with cancer.

Who is eligible?

Caregivers in your community, including nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, physicians, counselors, educators, and volunteers.Their contribution can be to provide or support one or more of the following:

  1. Direct cancer patient care
  2. Research
  3. Education
  4. Supportive services

Employees of BC Cancer Agency, including Community Oncology Network employees, can only be nominated for care provided outside their job description.

What is the nomination process?

Write a brief description (200-300 words) describing the individual’s contribution and the benefit of their contribution to cancer patients and their community.

Nominations will be reviewed by a committee consisting of the President of the BC Cancer Agency; the Agency’s Vice President of Cancer Care; co-chairs of the BC Cancer Agency’s Annual Cancer Conference; a cancer care provider representative and/or patient community representatives.

What is the nomination deadline?

Midnight, Friday, September 30, 2011.    

When will the award be announced?

The award recipient will be contacted in early November.  He/she will receive a plaque, public recognition of their achievement, a $300 cash award to be presented at the BC Cancer Agency’s Annual Cancer Conference banquet on Friday, December 2, 2011, at the Westin Bayshore Hotel in Vancouver.
