Updated 19 April 2012
The Family Practice Oncology Network’s programs and activities are led by a Council, an Executive/Finance Committee and several working groups: Preceptor, CME, Communications and Guidelines & Protocols. Together, they are working from a community care perspective to help the BC Cancer Agency achieve its mandate of reducing the incidence and impact of cancer in British Columbia.
The Council reports to the Office of the President of the BC Cancer Agency (BCCA) and oversees the planning, implementation and evaluation of activities undertaken by the Working Groups and the Network. Council members strive to ensure timely and equitable oncology care for patients in communities by supporting family physicians, facilitating their integration into the cancer treatment system and developing family practice oncology guidelines.
Providing family physicians with timely information about upcoming events and educational opportunities is another role of the Council, as is liaison with the BCCA and within the BC health system. The Council meets four times yearly.
