Electives at Medical Oncology

Out-of-Province Elective at the BC Cancer Agency

Procedure:

Training Objectives for Internal Medicine rotating residents: Training Objectives

Electives can be undertaken at any one of our regional centres in Vancouver, Victoria, Surrey, Kelowna or Abbotsford. If you are interested in applying for a Medical Oncology elective with the BC Cancer Agency, please email your request to the Medical Oncology Residency Training Program medoncresprog@bccancer.bc.ca and we will direct your request to the appropriate site.

The program administrator will email you with an acknowledgement upon receipt of your request and forward this information to the site director for review. Once your elective has been approved you will receive official confirmation from our program. We will also forward this confirmation to the University of British Columbia, Postgraduate Dean’s office to proceed with the official paperwork. You will be contacted by the secretary to the Postgraduate Deans with instructions to complete your paperwork. If you need any further information, please contact Bill Pollard from the Dean’s office at bpollard@postgrad.med.ubc.ca.

The secretary from the PG Dean’s office will send you an application form to apply for temporary registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC. You will need to have a letter from your program director stating agreement to this elective for the BC College and the Postgraduate Dean’s office.

Upon arriving in Vancouver, you will need to first register at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC (https://www.cpsbc.ca) before you start your rotation in Medical Oncology.
