Your First Visit

Your first appointment is usually scheduled about two weeks after you've been referred to one of our five comprehensive cancer centres (see regional services) . Before this appointment, you'll receive a call from a member of the health-care team. This call will cover:

  • General personal information
  • The names of physicians who are treating you now
  • Whether you need any translation help or someone to drive you to and from your appointment

Before your first visit, you are welcome to contact our counsellors, social workers or nurses for support and information. You are also welcome to visit the Library, located in the Vancouver Cancer Centre, or contact Library staff by phone. They can help track down information for you.

Please review the Health Assessment Form that you will be asked to complete when you arrive for your first appointment. If you wish, you may print the Health Assessment Form and complete it at your leisure before you come to the cancer centre.
