Cancer Prevention Coordinators
January 15, 2010
The BC Cancer Agency, with support from the BC Cancer Foundation, established a team of Cancer Prevention Coordinators (CPCs) across B.C. who are building partnerships, assessing community needs, facilitating the implementation of community action plans and public education programs and making recommendations for cancer control in their regions.
In carrying out their mandate, our CPCs are focusing upon the main preventable risk factors for cancer i.e. tobacco, obesity, inactivity, poor nutrition, sun exposure and environmental agents. In addition, they provide information on screening, chiefly on mammography and cervical screening.
Contact the CPC in your region to see how your school can take part in the Healthy Living Schools Program, a program designed to recognise those schools who encourage healthy behaviour among the student population. The school districts (SDs) are listed for each CPC.
