Feb 7, 2008	Certificate of Approval & REB Fee/CTA (legal contract) If the Clinical Trial Agreement (the legal contract) is received and approved by the REB and it includes a clear statement that the sponsor is bound by the agreement to pay the $3000 REB fee, the REB will issue the certificate pending receipt of payment (providing all other provisos have been satisfied). The language must be clear and easily identified in the contract. An example of preferred wording is below. The REB will accept other language with clearly similar intent. However, in situations where such language is not clearly evident in the legal contract the REB will continue to withhold the certificate of approval until the payment has been received. Example of wording: "Ethics Committee Fee A payment of $3,000 for the initial ethics committee review will be issued by [sponsor name] upon receipt of the appropriate invoices from the institution.    Refer to: BCCA REB Policy: Certificate of Approval

June 15, 2006	Health Canada Approval of Amendments  Updated:  Amendments requiring Health Canada Approval must be submitted for review by the full board and a copy of the Health Canada No Objection Letter received prior to the REB issuing the Certificate of approval. (Policies: Certificates of Approval) Protocol Deviations (violations, exemptions, waivers) Updated:  Criteria and timelines for reporting to REB. Graduate Students & Medical Residents must complete TCPS Tutorial Effective April 3, 2006:  Graduate Students and Medical Residents participating in a research project must complete the TCPS Tutorial before the application is submitted to the REB. Amendments Vs. Acknowledgment The following items were previously accepted on a Request for Acknowledgment, however, with the implementation of RISe these items must be submitted as an amendment in RISe; Investigator Brochures, Health Canada NOL (No Objection Letters), Clinical Trial Agreement (Contracts), changes of investigators (including study team members and primary contact for the PI).  For details about safety letters refer to the Acknowledgment page on this website.
