 Richard Doll, MSW, MSc Director, Sociobehavioural Research Centre Provincial Leader, Cancer Rehabilitation
|
Richard Doll is the Director of the Sociobehavioural Research Centre and the Provincial Leader for Cancer Rehabilitation at the British Columbia Cancer Agency. His responsibilities include implementing supportive care programs within BCCA and promoting the development of community based programs.
He is a member of CIHR Advisory Board for the Institute of Cancer Research, a member of the Rebalance Focus Action Group (RF) for the Canadian Strategy for Cancer Control (CSCC), a co-chair of the Rehabilitation and Survivorship Study Group for the Multinational Association Supportive Care in Cancer, and a founding member of the Canadian Association of Psychosocial Oncology.
Richard co-leads a New & Emerging team for Palliative Care in the cross cultural context. His research interests also include health technology and access to care.

 Kimberly Burrus, BA (Hons) Administative Research Coordinator

Kimberly Burrus is a Research Coordinator for the Cancer Rehabilitation and Sociobehavioural Research Centre. Kimberly is coordinating MINDSET, a study comparing two psychosocial interventions for former breast cancer patients to determine if they have different effects on well-being and stress.
She is co-editor of the SRC webpage, SRC Annual Report and quarterly newsletter Connections. |
 Joanne Magtoto, BA Research Project Assistant

Joanne Magtoto is a Research Project Assistant at the BC Cancer Agency Sociobehavioural Research Centre. She is also a research assistant for the Cancer Transitions Project lead by Amanda Ward; her role includes assistance with research coordination and evaluation.

 Vickie Mattimoe Administrative Coordinator Cancer Rehabilitation/SRC

Vickie Mattimoe is the Administrative Coordinator for the BCCA Cancer Rehabilitation Network and Sociobehavioural Research Center.
Vickie is responsible for a variety of organizational responsibilities related to patient and family counselling, nutrition, psychiatry, speech therapy and the Sociobehavioural Research Centre.

 Svetlana Ristovski-Slijepcevic, PhD Research Associate CIHR Team in Supportive Cancer Care Research Coordinator

Svetlana Ristovski-Slijepcevic is a Research Coordinator for the CIHR Team in Supportive Cancer Care at the Sociobehavioural Research Centre and a Research Associate in the Department of Sociology at the University of British Columbia.
Svetlana’s broad research interests lie in the social and cultural determinants of health and illness. In her previous training, she has used perspectives from social theory to explore how people of different ethnocultural groups in Canada engage with broader societal discourses about food, nutrition and health.
More recently, Svetlana has been involved in various initiatives related to cancer survivorship including: an environmental scan regarding survivorship conceptualization, research and practice across Canada; a workshop to create a pan-Canadian agenda for survivorship; a workshop to identify priorities for survivorship research in Canada; and an evaluation of ‘Cancer Transitions: Moving beyond treatment’, a psycho-educational care program for cancer survivors. |

 Joanne Stephen, PhD Research and Clinical Practitioner

Joanne Stephen is a Research and Clinical Practitioner at the BC Cancer Agency. She brings both clinical experience and doctoral training in Psychology to her role.
Her research interests are psychosocial and cognitive behavioural interventions, translation and uptake of psycho-oncology knowledge in the Cancer Centre and community setting, and complementary and alternative therapies.
She is currently PI on a pilot assessing the clinical utility of therapeutic touch. She is Co-Investigator on projects investigating health technology, patient navigation, and clinical practice guidelines. |
 Amanda Ward, PhD Research Scientist

Amanda Ward is a Research Scientist with the Cancer Rehabilitation and Sociobehavioural Research Centre. She has training in both quantitative and qualitative cancer research methodology; with a background that ranges from research at the cellular level and drug delivery, to the whole person needs of people affected by cancer.
Amanda is leading a study to investigate the impact of psycho-educational intervention programming on the quality of life of cancer survivors. The intention is to evaluate and develop a number of programs for future nationwide implementation. She is interested in pursuing the translation of evidence-based research into health care practice and policy. Amanda is also working on a collaborative project between the BCCA and UBC to develop a Cancer Survivorship Research Unit. |
