Maisie Lo, MSc

Maisie graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1999 with a Bachelor's degree in Science with Honours minoring in biology. She continued her studies at Waterloo and obtained her Master's degree in Science, department of biology in the field of plant science.
Maisie returned to Vancouver in 2003 to begin her PhD program at UBC in conjunction with the BC Cancer Agency's Research Centre, under Dr. Victor Ling and in collaboration with Dr. Peter Gout's lab.
Her thesis topic is pancreatic cancer and drug resistance. Her project encompasses different transporters: from profiling the ATP-binding cassette transporter family to characterizing the function of the cystine uptake amino acid transporter in pancreatic cancer growth and drug resistance.
