This specialized team focuses on providing support and expertise in pain and symptom management for patients and their families throughout the course of their illness.

The BC Cancer Agency, Centre for the Southern Interior team includes a palliative medicine physician, oncology nurses, pharmacist, interventional anesthesiologist, psychiatrist, patient & family counsellor, nutrition consultant and administrative support staff. The goal is to maximize the quality of life for patients and caregivers by:

• Providing expertise in the management of pain, nausea, shortness of breath, fatigue and other cancer symptoms.
• Empowering individuals to make choices about their care.
• Assisting patients and families to access resources in their home communities.

Referrals to the clinic can be made by patients, family, family physicians, oncologists, or BC Cancer Agency, Centre for the Southern Interior staff.
