The Abbotsford Centre is integrated with the Abbotsford Regional Hospital and is able to use many of the services available there, in addition to these specialized cancer services & community resources:

Library Services

The Cancer Information Centre (CIC) is a lending library for public use. It houses a collection of books, audiocassettes, compact discs, DVDs, and videos to help patients and families understand and cope with a cancer diagnosis, treatment, and side effects. 

Library collection

This collection contains information on a variety of topics, including:

  • coping and living with cancer
  • explaining cancer to children
  • grief and dying
  • alternative/ complementary medicine
  • nutrition and cookbooks
  • music, guided imagery and relaxation
  • humour

The library is located on Fraser 1 (beside the main entrance). It is open weekdays 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., and closed on weekends and statutory holidays.

Returns: The book return slot is located in the hallway beside the library (across from the Fraser elevators).
Renewals: Items may be signed out for four weeks at a time. For renewals,  please contact the Librarian.

Order of the Eastern Star (OES)

The OES provides free dressings as needed for every cancer patient in British Columbia. Please check for details with Abbotsford Centre staff.


The Abbotsford Cancer Centre Pharmacy is located on the 3rd floor of the Sumas Wing of the Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre.

Dispensary hours: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays (except holidays)

Refills: Phone, mail or fax your request. Please allow at least five days for processing.

The pharmacy provides (free of charge) medications prescribed to treat your cancer:

  • tablets or capsules to take by mouth at home
  • certain hormonal injections that are administered by your physician
  • injectable chemotherapy drugs that are administered while you are here at the centre
The pharmacy does not provide medications for supportive care, such as antinauseants or pain-control medications; you must fill those at a community pharmacy.

Labwork and prescriptions

For some treatments, your oncologist may request labwork to be reviewed before your prescription can be filled. If you have your labwork performed at a Fraser Health hospital lab, please wait at least one hour before you pick up your prescription. Outside lab results have to be faxed to the centre and may take up to 24 hours for processing.

You will be given verbal and written instructions about your medication(s) when they are dispensed. Our pharmacists are always happy to discuss any questions you may have about your prescriptions. Drop by the pharmacy on the 3rd floor of Sumas Wing or call ahead to make an appointment with one of our pharmacists.
