After Active Treatment series

This education and support series, which addresses questions, concerns and resources for patients who are interested in learning how to move forward from active cancer treatment, is offered twice a year. For more information and to register, call 604-877-6000 ext. 672194.

Brain tumour support group

Every other month we break into two subgroups, one for patients and another for caregivers and loved ones. This allows members of each group to support each other around their unique challenges. Sessions are held on the first Wednesday of each month from 9:30 am to 11:00 am in the John Jambor Room on the 1st floor.

Children's group

Chinese support group

This peer support and information sharing group, for Cantonese-speaking cancer patients and their supporters, is held on the second Thursday of each month from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm in the John Jambor Room on the 1st floor.

Job search seminar

Addressing issues around looking for work such as resume gaps, disclosure of health history, asking for work accomodation and legal rights and responsibilities.This group is offered 4 times a year. For more information and to register for this program call: 604-877-6000 ext. 672194 or toll-free (within BC) 1-800-663-3333 ext. 672194.

Look Good Feel Better

Run by trained volunteers, the Look Good Feel Better program offers sessions regularly. For more information and to register, call toll-free 1-800-914-5665, email or visit the Look Good Feel Better website.

Memory & Attention Adaptation Training (MAAT)

For those who struggle with memory and attention problems related to treatment side-effects. Instruction in compensatory, self-monitoring and stress management strategies to manage better will be provided. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy

This program is designed to help people with anxiety and depression learn how to improve their well being and quality of life. It combines the ideas of cognitive therapy with mindfulness practices allowing participants to become better acquainted with the modes of mind that characterize mood disorders while at the same time learning to develop a new relationship to them.Pre-registration is required. Call 604-877-6000 ext. 672194 or toll-free (within BC) 1-800-663-3333 ext. 672194.

Mindfulness-based stress reduction

Learn how to use mindfulness practices to reduce stress, improve mood and become an active participant in improving your health and well-being. For more information, call 604-877-6000 ext. 672194 or toll-free (within BC) 1-800-663-3333 ext. 672194.

Online cancer chat group

Cancer Chat Canada offers online groups to patients and their family members. To register, call toll-free 1-844-725-2476. For more information, visit the Cancer Chat Canada website.

Online support for children and teens

Cancer in my Family is a website made specifically for children ages 6-12. They will be ‎taken on a journey to understand how cancer is affecting them.

Facts 4 Teens offers web resources for teens to help in understanding the facts and feelings related to having cancer.

Relaxation program 
The relaxation group is a guided relaxation and music therapy group for patients and caregivers who are struggling with heightened anxiety, depression and /or stress. Patients and their caregivers are welcome to attend individually and/or together. This is a drop in program which runs on a weekly basis. No pre-registration is required.  

Return to work education sessions

For those who are returning to their former workplace after cancer treatment. The two part seminar will discuss ways to get ready for return to work, insurance issues, improving workplace well-being, employment rights and negotiating return to work. Vocational rehabilitation

We offer resource referral, information, advocacy assistance and counselling related to rehabilitation issues for patients and family members. For assessment or information about return to work programs, call: 604-877-6000 ext. 672194 or toll-free (within BC) 1-800-663-3333 ext. 672194.

Women Living with Metastatic Cancer

This drop-in group is for women dealing with metastatic cancer. Sessions occur on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm in Room 502 on the 5th floor.

Young Adults Art Therapy Group

A group for adults, aged 19-40ish. The group meets on Thursday afternoons, twice a month, and uses art therapy. For more information or to reigster, contact Sara Hankinson: or call 604-877-6000 ext. 672184.
