Virtual Health

Virtual Health is a patient-centered care model focused on connecting patients, families and providers, through the use of technology to promote wellness, specialty care and improved outcomes.

BC Cancer - Victoria is pleased to offer patients the opportunity to attend some appointments virtually. In a Virtual Health visit you are able to see, hear and speak to your health care providers in the same way as an in-person visit, using technology. Virtual Health is enabled by Zoom.

Receive a Virtual Health appointment with BC Cancer - Victoria 

We will contact you to schedule your next appointment. You may choose Virtual health if it works best for you. Download the Virtual Health Patient Checklist to find out how to connect with Virtual Health.

Set-up your Device

You will receive an email invitation for your Virtual Health visit. Set up your device as soon as possible when you receive the invitation. You may refer to Quick Tips (iOS/Mac/Windows/Android) to see step-by-step instructions for your device:

Meet your Provider Virtually

At the time of the appointment, tap or click the link in your email invitation, follow prompts, and join as a guest to meet your provider.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I eligible?

If you are interested in Virtual Health appointments, mention this to your care provider.  If you both agree this is a viable option then proceed with completing the Virtual Health Patient Agreement.

What does it mean if I submit the Virtual Health Patient Agreement?

It means you will have Virtual Health as a visit option in your journey with BC Cancer - Victoria. If a Virtual Health visit is not meeting your or your care provider’s needs, the session may be changed to an alternative visit type (phone visit for example).

What to expect after a scheduling call with the program?

We will email you a meeting invitation titled BC Cancer – Victoria Virtual Health Appointment with XX @ Time, Date within 24 hours after the scheduling call.

What if I can't find the email invitation?

If you have difficulty receiving the invitation after 24 hours, feel free to contact us at 250-519-5707. Please make sure you check your spam and add VicVirtualHealth@bccancer.bc.ca as an email contact.

What if I have technical difficulty?

Virtual Health is enabled by Zoom. If you have technical difficulty joining the meeting, please call 250-519-5707 to switch to a telephone appointment with your provider. At the time of your appointment, your health care provider will call you if you don't arrive in the virtual lobby after 10 minutes. 

What if my health care provider doesn’t arrive? 

Just like face-to-face interactions, patients will be waiting in the virtual lobby until the health care provider arrives. If the health care provider hasn't arrived after 10 minutes please call 250-519-5707 for assistance.
