Counselling & Info

 

Indigenous services: 

The Indigenous Cancer Care Coordinator is available at the Centre for the North to assist patients and families from First Nations communities with emotional and practical concerns. The coordinator will make referrals to community agencies and assist patients and families when coping with cancer.

Cultural spaces are available:

  • Spiritual Healing Room
  • Cultural-Smudging Pavilion
  • Healing Garden
  • Roof Top Garden

Patient & family counselling services 

Counsellors are available to meet with patients, couples or family groups about practical or emotional concerns. Learn more about our family counselling services and support programs

Online support  for children and teens

Cancerinmyfamily is a website especially made for kids ages 6-12. They will be ‎taken on a journey to understand how cancer is affecting them.

Facts4teens offers web resources for teens to help in understanding the facts and feelings related to having cancer.

 
Group programs

 

Programs offered at our Centre

Relaxation Program: 

The sessions are weekly from 10 - 11:30 a.m. in Cluculz Room, Patient and Family Counselling area. Call 250-645-7330 to register for a group. Friends and family members welcome. There is no charge.

Children's Program: 

Sessions are offered throughout the year call Patient & Family Counselling for the date of the next session.

Look Good Feel Better Program:  

Monthly sessions are held at the Kordyban Lodge by trained volunteers. Call 250.562.3535 for more information and/or to register.

Online groups:

Cancer Chat Canada: offers groups to patients and family members. Call toll-free 1-844-725-2476 to register.
