The BC Cancer Foundation is the bridge that connects philanthropic support and research breakthroughs in cancer knowledge. As the fundraising partner of the BC Cancer Agency and the largest charitable funder of cancer research in this province, we enable donors to make contributions to leading-edge research that have a direct impact on improvements to cancer care for patients in British Columbia. We fund with the goal of finding solutions.
As an independent charitable organization, we raise funds exclusively for the BC Cancer Agency that go to supporting innovative cancer research and compassionate enhancements to patient care.
The Centre for the Southern Interior is an ongoing supporter of cutting-edge clinical research.
PET/CT delivers precise imaging technology that provides doctors with the information necessary to offer the most appropriate diagnosis and treatment. The use of PET/CT means a single, highly-effective test for the patient, which can save them from unnecessary radiation treatment, surgery, additional imaging tests and biopsies.
With increasing demand, the need for PET/CT technology in the Southern Interior has never been clearer. In 2014, there were 857 PET/CT scans performed for patients in this region. This represents close to a 200% increase in the number of scans performed compared to just five years previous.
The BC Cancer Foundation has launched a $5 million fundraising initiative and is committed to bringing this critical care tool closer to home for thousands of patients. No longer will residents of the Okanagan be burdened by having to travel to Vancouver for this important aspect of their cancer care. Learn more here.
