1Arriving for your appointment
After arriving for your appointment, a technologist will bring you to the imaging room for your low-dose CT scan.
2Positioning your body
You will lie face-up on the scanning table with your feet pointing towards the machine and your arms resting above your head.
3Getting your scan
You will hold your breath for a few seconds while the table slides you into the scanner. The scan takes less than 10 seconds, and is not painful. You do not need to take any medications or receive any needles for this test.
4Reviewing your images
The technologist will review the images taken to make sure they are of good quality for the radiologist to read. If needed, the technologist may take additional pictures.
5Receiving your results
Both you and your primary care provider will receive
results in about 3 weeks. Once the results are available, you can also view them on
Health Gateway.
