If You Have Symptoms

Normally, lung cancer symptoms don't appear until the disease is already at an advanced stage and has spread. Therefore, it's important to screen when you are not experiencing any symptoms.

The following symptoms may be associated with lung cancer, but could have other causes. If you think you are experiencing any of these symptoms, speak with your primary care provider right away - even if there were no concerns found from your recent lung scan.

Symptoms of lung cancer include:
  • Coughing that does not go away or gets worse;
  • Coughing up blood or rust-coloured sputum (spit or phlegm);
  • Shortness of breath or chest pain that is always felt and gets worse with deep breathing or coughing.
