BC Cancer Breast Screening operates three digital mammography coaches that travel to rural and remote communities through British Columbia. The service helps improve access to screening mammograms across the province.
Screening mammograms take place in a comfortable, private setting using modern digital mammography equipment. Each mobile coach includes:
- A reception area
- A dressing area
- A mammography examination room
- A
wheelchair lift for accessibility
The Mobile Mammography Service provides about 10% of all screening mammograms performed in British Columbia. Each year, the service visits more than 170 rural communities, including more than 40 First Nations communities.
