Who we are

The new BC Cancer centre in Nanaimo is situated on the traditional and unceded territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation.

BC Cancer and Provincial Health Services Authority, in partnership with Island Health, are building a new BC Cancer centre in Nanaimo to enhance access to cancer services for the people of central and northern Vancouver Island.  

Construction is now underway on the new BC Cancer centre in Nanaimo, which is targeted to open in 2028. The cancer centre will bring cancer care closer to home for people across central and northern Vancouver Island.

New centre specifics​

The new BC Cancer centre in Nanaimo is expected to host 11,000 patient radiation consults and follow-up appointments annually. In its opening year, the centre is expected to provide approximately 20,000 treatments for as many as 1,600 patients.
