Radiation Therapists are key members of the interdisciplinary teams at all BC Cancer centres. You’ll work with state-of-the-art technology to deliver cancer care treatments, including brachytherapy and external beam radiation therapy. Our provincial network of cancer care specialists includes 350 Radiation Therapists, 110 Radiation Oncologists, 70 Medical Physicists, 141 Medical Oncologists and numerous other health professionals, researchers and support positions who contribute to supporting patients across BC.

BC Cancer is growing, with two additional regional centres planned within the next few years. New job opportunities will be available as we continue to serve more patients across BC. As part of a provincial service, our teams work collaboratively with their colleagues across BC, who are available to consult, mentor and train fellow health care providers.
Radiation Therapists have extensive opportunities for leadership advancement early in their career path. The typical progression for a therapist wishing to advance into a leadership role consists of: Radiation Therapist, Resource Therapist, Lead Radiation Therapist and management/leadership roles.
Specialty areas vary by site. An orientation plan will be tailored to best meet your goals and interests. Specialty areas can include the following:

At each of BC Cancer’s regional cancer centres, Radiation Therapists provide cancer care and treatments for patients, as valued members of the interdisciplinary team. Each centre offers external beam radiation therapy treatment for patients, with some centres also offering brachytherapy and specialized treatments for specific cancers.

BC Cancer is bringing cancer care closer to home with the planning of four major redevelopment projects. In the coming decade, we plan to open new cancer centres in Surrey, Burnaby, Kamloops and Nanaimo.

Qualifications
- Degree in radiation therapy or recognized certificate and Canadian Association for Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) certified
- Within the preceding five (5) years, the successful completion of radiation therapy training program or active employment as a Radiation Therapist
Support for new hires
- Two week full-time orientation with the option to extend as needed
- Multiple check-ins with RTT educators
- Personalized education plan is created based on what previous experience you are bringing
- Supernumerary for the duration of your orientation
