Community Oncology Network Pharmacy Educators

The Community Oncology Network Pharmacy Educators are a team of pharmacists from regional BC Cancer centres who facilitate and support the ongoing professional development of oncology pharmacy staff across the province.

Who we are

The Community Oncology Network (CON) is a collaborative partnership between BC Cancer regional centres and participating regional hospitals across British Columbia. Sites within the network deliver varying levels of cancer care services, tailored to their regional needs and operational capacities. This integrated network approach ensures patients have access to standardized, high-quality cancer treatment closer to home, fully aligned with the standards established by BC Cancer.

The BC Cancer Community Oncology Network (CON) Pharmacy Educators are a team of four pharmacists from regional BC Cancer centres who facilitate and support the ongoing professional development of oncology pharmacy staff across the province and throughout the network.

What we do

We develop and maintain key educational resources and training programs for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy assistants across BC Cancer and the Community Oncology Network hospitals, with the goal of strengthening oncology pharmacy practice and improving patient care.

BC Cancer Pharmacy webpages: Essential information and tools for oncology pharmacy staff, including answers to Pharmacy FAQs and quick links to Drug Information and Symptom and Side Effect Management resources
Clinical Pharmacy Guide - Clinical Assessment of BC Cancer Drug Treatment Protocols: A comprehensive training manual that helps new oncology pharmacists interpret and assess BC Cancer treatment protocols and medication orders
BC Cancer Oncology Pharmacy Education Program core modules: Online courses supporting ongoing staff education and development

CON Pharmacy Educators are also available to:

Answer questions from community oncology pharmacy staff
Organize, prepare, and deliver in-person or virtual educational in-service training
Orient new staff to BC Cancer Pharmacy webpages, educational resources, and tools
Share invitations to BC Cancer Pharmacy Rounds and other relevant educational events
