Patients with uncomplicated, low risk melanoma (depth of invasion < 1.0 mm, non-ulcerated) generally do not need to be referred to BC Cancer. For patients with intermediate to high risk melanoma (depth of invasion > 1.0 mm, ulcerated, > 1 mitosis/mm²), regional or distant metastatic disease, complicated lesions involving face or digits, referral to BC Cancer is encouraged.
