Fertility Preservation
All patients of child-bearing age should be counselled regarding the options for treatment and impact of their proposed treatment on their future fertility. Specifically, for patients undergoing treatment that will permanently affect ovarian function and their ability to carry a pregnancy (i.e. primary chemoradiation), discussion of egg or embryo preservation is essential to ensure patients are well informed about their future fertility options.
Preservation of Ovarian Function
For patients who may receive chemoradiation, providers should discuss the option of ovarian transposition to preserve ovarian function to avoid premature menopause.
