Parking for Patients

Patients with cancer can park for free.

On March 4, 2022, the B.C. Ministry of Health brought back paid parking at all health authority sites to ensure spots are available for patients, staff, volunteers and visitors.

Free parking is available for patients who are onsite for cancer treatment, such as care team appointments, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, dental care, laboratory tests, and imaging related to treatment after this date.

People who do not have a cancer diagnosis, such as those having a consultation, screening or evaluation.

Abbotsford
Register your licence plate with the parking attendant located inside the BC Cancer Entrance on Level 1, Sumas building. Please do not pay for parking.


Kelowna

Go to the main reception/ screening desk. You will be given a window sticker to display on your vehicle dashboard that you can use for all of your cancer treatment visits. Please do not pay for parking.


Prince George
Go to the reception/screening desk and provide your licence plate number. You will be given a decal to place on your vehicle dashboard that you can use for all of your cancer treatment visits. Please do not pay for parking.


Surrey

Register your licence plate with the parking attendant located inside the main BC Cancer entrance (off 138th Street). Please do not pay for parking.


Vancouver

To park for free at BC Cancer - Vancouver, please register your licence plate when you check in for your appointment. Please do not pay for parking.


Victoria

For appointments at BC Cancer – Victoria, please check in at the parking validation desk in the main entrance (Lee St) of the cancer centre. You will be provided with a coupon code to enter into the parking pay station. Please do not pay for parking.

Patients who are onsite for cancer treatment are eligible for free parking at all B.C. health authority sites.

In January, the B.C. Ministry of Health announced the return of paid parking at provincial health-care facilities to ensure spots are available for patients, staff, volunteers and visitors.

They announced that free parking will continue for patients receiving dialysis treatment or undergoing cancer treatment and surgery, and for parents or caregivers of children staying in the hospital overnight.


This prioritizes free parking for those who regularly receive certain treatments.

No. You will not be reimbursed for parking at private sites (non-health authority site or non-BC Cancer parking lots).
