Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) improves the health of British Columbians by seeking province-wide solutions to specialized health care needs in collaboration with BC health authorities and other partners.
These guidelines are prepared according to the Advisory Committee format: easy-to-use, evidence-based and taking a proactive approach to the management of cancer as a chronic disease.
To date we have co-published guidelines on Palliative Care (updated 2017), and Female Genital Tract Cancers, and contributed to guidelines for Colorectal and Breast Cancer in partnership with the BC Guidelines and Protocols Advisory Committee (GPAC).
In 2016, we published independently produced guidelines for Upper Gastrointestinal Cancers and are now finalizing a guideline for Prostate Cancer in partnership with GPAC. Work is also underway on a Lung Cancer Guideline.

External review of this joint BC Cancer/GPAC guideline concluded in June 2019. We anticipate publication in the coming months.
The Family Practice Oncology Network took part in a project, funded by the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer, to evaluate the awareness and use of clinical practice guidelines for breast and colorectal cancer released in 2013.
