Volunteer

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our program is on hold. We are not accepting applications right now.

Thank you for your interest in joining our volunteer team at BC Cancer – Prince George.

Information
Volunteers are a part of the multi-disciplinary cancer care team and play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support; enhancing the experience of patients, family and friends during their cancer journey.

Whether you have been affected by cancer, have a healthcare career goal or just want to be involved in your community, we welcome your application. Volunteer opportunities are available Monday to Friday, 8:00 am and 4:30 pm. Please note, we do not offer volunteer opportunities on weekends or evenings.

Requirements

There are no educational prerequisites but compassionate, empathetic, non-judgmental individuals match our patients’ needs. Applicants must meet the following requirements

  • Age 18 years and up
  • Available during clinic hours (Monday to Friday, 8:00 am and 4:30 pm)
  • Willing to commit to one 3-4 hour shift a week for a minimum of 6 months
All applicants must complete the application, interview and reference checks to be considered. Successful applicants will be invited to and must complete a basic training course and orientation.

If you are a BC Cancer patient or have supported a loved one through cancer treatment recently, we recommend waiting one year following the end of treatment to submit an application.
