Public & Patients

*** COVID announcement ***

Healthcare does not stop and neither does the library. Though all BC Cancer Library Sites and Cancer information Centres remain closed to the public, we are OPEN online to provide continued reference, research, document delivery, and more.  Books, journals and AV materials are available for loan via curbside pick-up at our Vancouver and Victoria library locations, or through free postal mail delivery.  Visit our online catalogue, pathfinders and recommended websites to see what is available for you, conveniently from home, today.

Collections & Borrowing

Search our online catalogue to find books, videos, ebooks, and audio material held in any of our six locations.

Information Requests
If you live in BC or Yukon, you can request cancer information from the BC Cancer Library. Choose to have your information sent to you by mail or email, or pick it up in person at the cancer centre nearest to you.

Questions? Contact a regional librarian by phone or in person for more information.

BC Cancer Staff

Services for BC Cancer Staff and Physicians

The BC Cancer Library offers library and information services, including document delivery, literature searches, individual and group training, online access to evidence-based resources and tools, and much more to all BC Cancer staff and physicians. BC Cancer staff and physicians should contact their local librarian for individual assistance.

Staff members are encouraged to refer patients to the library, and have them contact the library through the Information Request Form.

Collections & Borrowing

Visit the  library's online catalogue (do not use Internet Explorer) to find and obtain access to books, e-books, print serials and AV materials held in all the BC Cancer library locations.

Contact the library to register for a library card. For more information on borrowing, check out our General Borrowing Policies

Staff Guide Resources

NEW! We have migrated from Library Links to our Staff Guide

Our Staff Guide website provides BC Cancer staff access to a wealth of online practice and evidence-based medicine tools and information resources. Find topic guides and online resources such as ejournals, ebooks, RefWorks, and online databases - including Medline, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Natural Medicines, Lexicomp, the Cochrane Database, and more.

The Full Text Finder database will help connect you to library ejournals and ebooks.

Staff must be using a network computer or Citrix (if working remotely) in order to access most of the online database eresources.  BC Cancer staff can also connect to full text articles when doing searches in PubMed. Contact the Library to obtain information about offsite access.

The library's Document Delivery services are also available to help you obtain journal articles, books, book chapters or other resources.
