BC Cancer’s Radiation Therapy Program provides radiation therapy treatments, education and care to our patients in each of the six regional cancer centres.

The Radiation Therapy Program is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of standards of radiation treatments in BC.

Our website provides patient education materials and information on managing radiation therapy side effects.

The Provincial Radiation Therapy Program policies are now accessible on the Shared Health Organizations Portal (SHOP)

Patient Materials
The following patient materials have been prepared and peer-reviewed by the radiation therapy clinical educators at BC Cancer. This information is intended to supplement and support the verbal education provided to patients by their radiation therapy care team.

This information does not replace medical counsel by a physician or nurse in the context of individual clinical circumstances.

Training
BC Cancer Radiation Therapy Program provides clinical placement and experience for radiation therapy students in BC. Currently, students enrolled in an accredited radiation therapy degree program can submit a request for clinical placement in the following centres via HSPnet:

  • BC Cancer - Abbotsford
  • BC Cancer - Prince George (Centre for the North)
  • BC Cancer - Surrey
  • BC Cancer - Vancouver
  • BC Cancer - Victoria
International or out-of-province radiation therapy students may request more information via Fiona Mitchell, Provincial Professional Practice & Academic Leader, fiona.mitchell@bccancer.bc.ca.
