Pharmacy Education

Pharmacy provides continuing education and professional development resources for pharmacist, pharmacy technician and pharmacy assistant  learning.
Education programs

BC Cancer Pharmacy offers two oncology pharmacy education programs to help pharmacy oncology staff development: informal self-study modules, and a formal residency program.

Pharmacy Education Program

The BC Cancer Oncology Pharmacy Education Program is a freely available, on-line, self-directed program intended for the development of pharmacy personnel whose practice involves the care of cancer patients. 

Residency Program 

The BC Cancer Pharmacy Practice Residency Program experiential learning program enrolled its first student in June 2012. It now enrols two residents annually.

CON Pharmacy Educators
The BC Cancer Communities Oncology Network (CON) Pharmacy Educators support ongoing CON oncology pharmacy staff development and are available to: 
  • answer oncology pharmacy questions
  • provide the What's New @ BC Cancer newsletter with relevant resource and practice updates
  • prepare and deliver educational in-service training
  • send invites to relevant Pharmacy Rounds
  • develop and maintain pharmacy website and pharmacy educational content
CON staff can contact their CON Pharmacy Educator with questions, to be added to a mailing list, or to arrange a videoconference presentation or site visit.

Pharmacy Rounds 
The BC Cancer Provincial Pharmacy Rounds are coordinated by the Provincial Pharmacy Education Coordinator. They are usually  held on the fourth Thursday of each month and are open to BC Cancer and CON pharmacy staff via videoconference or teleconference. 

CON staff should join their CON Pharmacy Educator's mailing list for an invite. Connection information is sent out the week of the rounds, and slide copies and handouts are available the morning of the rounds.  

STU Newsletter and Education Bulletin

The BC Cancer Systemic Therapy Update is a monthly newsletter for all health professionals who provide systemic therapy care and treatment to cancer patients across BC. This newsletter and the associated Education Bulletin are published under the Systemic Therapy part of the website.  


The implementation of new and revised BC Cancer treatment programs, policies and procedures are generally coordinated with an announcement in the Systemic Therapy Update for appropriate communication and education. To subscribe, email a request to the mailing list at bulletin@bccancer.bc.ca.
