Information
Volunteers are a part of the multi-disciplinary cancer care team and play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support; enhancing the experience of patients, family and friends during their cancer journey.
Whether you have been affected by cancer, have a healthcare career goal or just want to be involved in your community, we welcome your
application. Volunteer opportunities are available Monday to Friday, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. Please note, we do not offer volunteer opportunities on weekends or evenings.
There are no educational prerequisites but compassionate, empathetic, non-judgmental individuals match our patients’ needs. Applicants must meet the following requirements
- Age 18 years and up
- Available during clinic hours (Monday to Friday, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm)
- Willing to commit to one 3-4 hour shift a week for a minimum of 6 months
All applicants must complete an
application, interview and reference checks to be considered. Successful applicants will be invited to and must complete an orientation as well as some online training courses.
If you are a BC Cancer patient or have supported a loved one through cancer treatment recently, we recommend waiting one year following the end of treatment to submit an
application.
